I am a writer with 20 years of experience working for newspapers, magazines, and digital channels. I have co-authored four books about health and fitness, including Run to Lose: The Complete Guide to Weight Loss for Runners, (Rodale, 2015).

I am a running coach, certified by RRCA and USATF. I have completed 49 marathons and ultramarathons. I finished my first marathon in 4:51, my fastest marathon in 3:08, and I won the 2008 24-Hour National Championships.Read more about my running life here.
